The
ASK 21 and the MDF Fox r/c miniature gliders from Dragon Aviation
were first seen in a recent edition of the BMFA News. Now Ray Jones
of Dragon Aviation has sent us more details of these super little
scale gliders.
Ray
has invented a new acronym for these models - 'SBS' - Shoe Box Scale!
Ray and colleague Paul Watkins will be producing several small scale
soarers around 40" to 50" span. The first two off the
production line are the ASK 21 and the Fox.
Here's
some more details. The models have foam wings, vac-formed fuselages
and canopy, plus the 'bits and pieces' required. They are very quick
to build and great fun to fly.
Ray
tells us that more designs will be added soon, including some PSS
types and may be even smaller versions of Dragon Aviation's popular
Aeromacchi and Fouga Magister. (Click
here to see Dragon Aviation's larger PSS models).
The
ASK 21 and the Fox are also suitable for conversion to small electric
power. Both models are controlled by elevator and ailerons using
mini/micro servos and a small receiver.
The
fuselage is very easily joined by the builder but Dragon Aviation
can supply them ready joined if so required.
Flying
is straight forward and in experienced hands they are capable of
some fine aerobatics!
